Emeriti:

John B. Dawson

John B. Dawson joined the committee that was organized to save Cedarmere not long after it started up in 2009. He became president around 2013 when the first president, Terry Hunt, moved off of Long Island to live in the Hudson Valley.  John continued to serve as president until he resigned in 2022, and after that he continued to be on the board until November of 2024.  John was the attorney for William Cullen Bryant's great granddaughter, Elizabeth Love Godwin, when the arrangements were made to donate Cedarmere to Nassau County upon her passing, which occured in 1975.  

Harrison Hunt

M.A., History Museum Studies, Cooperstown Graduate Program. Retired Supervisor of Historic Sites,  Senior Curator of History for the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. Over 40 years of experience in museums and historical organizations. Organizer and President Emeritus, The Friends of Cedarmere.

 

Linda Hunt

M.L.S., Palmer School of Library and Information Science, C.W. Post, Long Island University. Archivist and librarian, former lead staff member at Cedarmere. Extensive historical knowledge of Cedarmere, William Cullen Bryant and Roslyn.

Anne Woodsworth

Ph.D., Educational Administration, University of Pittsburgh; B.L.S. & M.L.S., University of Toronto, Canada; B.F.A., University of Manitoba, Canada. Dean at Long Island University and at Pratt Institute, New York of the schools of library and information science. Former Secretary, Treasurer and Webmaster of the Friends of Cedarmere. Organized, cataloged and initiated preservation of William Cullen Bryant’s 2,000 plus books at Cedarmere – one of the last such private libraries in the U.S.A.

Leonard Shaw, Past Vice President & Treasurer

Ph.D., Electrical Engineering, Stanford University, Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn. Roslyn Village representative to the Hempstead Harbor Protection Committee, and Secretary of the Roslyn Landmark Society. Dear friend and colleague, gone but never forgotten.
